This version of Our Lady of Sorrows was painted in the seventeenth century by Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato. A painter by trade, Sassoferrato was inspired by much of the artistry of the Baroque period.

Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows honors the Seven Sorrows throughout the life of Mary: the prophecy of Simeon, the Holy Family's flight into Egypt, the loss of Jesus in the temple, meeting Jesus on the way to Calvary, Jesus' death on the cross, Mary's reception of the body of Jesus, and Jesus' placement in the tomb.

Lighthouse Sacred Art is printed on museum-quality gloss canvas with encapsulated pigment inks designed to resist fading for up to 50 years. Each canvas is hand stretched over a wood frame in a full gallery wrap. You can also add a gold or black frame to this image.
